Inter Milan suffered a 3-1 defeat on a cold night in Norway against a strong Bodø/Glimt side, who took advantage of their own artificial turf to overcome the Nerazzurri with two quick goals after half-time.
Speaking to the press after the game, Inter Milan manager Cristian Chivu was quick to acknowledge the inevitable point about the artificial turf. He said his team “tried, despite the surface,” but also admitted that “there’s no excuse, but I can’t be too the players,” he said via FCInter1908.
He added that “[Bodø/Glimt] are more used to this pitch, there is no excuse. The match is wide open, the second leg remains. We knew they are a team that can punish you on the counter-attack, now we will try to advance to the next round at the San Siro.”

Bodø/Glimt 3-1 Inter – Chivu: “Lautaro is out”
Cristian Chivu also made a rather worrying statement that Lautaro Martinez is “out”. When asked to elaborate on what he meant by “outside,” he replied “it means Lautaro was injured, it’s pretty serious.”
“I think he’s injured and will be out for a while,” he concluded on the matter.
The novelist added that the Nerazzurri have “some issues” that “we have to decide.”
When asked if his team showed a ‘lack of determination’, Chivu replied that “We asked for pressure on the ball carrier, but that wasn’t the problem.”
“The problem is that in some of the transition phases,” he added, “we were surprised by their speed on counter-attacks.”
Inter and Chivu must now prepare for the second leg, which will be played next week at the San Siro. They are down by two goals, and it will not be possible to blame the pitch if they do not turn this match around.
