No big surprise that Bodø/Glimt, who have almost completely stopped giving up points after a down period right after Europa League success, would win against Strømsgodset, who are in charge of the OBOS League.

Bodø/Glimt have equal points with Viking and top the table on goal difference, closest challenger Brann and Tromsø are nine points behind, while Strømsgodset are second to last with eight points up to the qualification place before this weekend’s games.

The top met the bottom of the Eliteserien at Marienlyst Stadium tonight, when relegation-threatened Strømsgodset took on gold-chasing Bodø/Glimt. The class difference was evident.

It was also an “anniversary” for head coach Kjetil Knutsen who could celebrate victory number 200.

Already after nine minutes, the Eliteserien’s top scorer, Kasper Høgh, opened the scoring for the visitors. With Bodø/Glimt’s superiority, it was almost impressive that it took almost 40 minutes before it was 2-0.

The first half was mostly about Bodø/Glimt, until Strømsgodset’s Gustav Wikheim got a red card after a rough tackle. Then it got even worse for the home team – 3-0 to Bodø/Glimt at halftime.

With one less man on the field, it was a game outnumbered for Strømsgodset. Høgh secured his second goal of the evening before he was substituted to rest for the next game.

The game ended 5-0 to Bodø/Glimt after a final goal by Daniel Bassi. Kjetil Knutsen’s team definitely seems ready for the Champions League qualifiers against Austrian side Sturm Graz next week.
