Erik Botheim, who this season became the champion in Allsvenskan with Malmö FF and has thus become relevant for play in one of the five big leagues.

The Norwegian striker was sold to the Russian club Krasnodar for 7.5 million euros before Russia attacked Ukraine and made it impossible for him to play there. – Erik Botheim broke his contract and traveled to Serie A club Salernitana without compensation and then also this time for free to Sweden almost a year ago.

Due to the termination of the contract with Krasnodar, Bodø/Glimt have not received the second part of their payment of close to 3 million euros. In January 2023, Glimt complained to Fifa that the last part of the money had not been paid.

Krasnodar was ordered to pay 2,893,410 euros plus 10 percent interest from August 11, 2022. Krasnodar appealed that verdict and now the answer came.

Bodø/Glimt have won in court again

Bodø/Glimt was successful in the appeal case in the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against Russian Krasnodar, and will receive the full payment for Erik Botheim’s transfer.

Krasnodar had to pay the transfer fee of 7.5 million euros in two installments.

It is not at all certain that Krasnodar, can or will pay anyway. – If they do not comply with the verdict, Bodø/Glimt can file a new complaint with FIFA, which can almost immediately impose sanctions on the Russian club. Refusal to rehearse can be a tool. – Something that could have an effect the day the war against Ukraine is over and Russia is again allowed to participate on normal terms.
