Carlo Ancelotti nears Brazil job – could be a historic appointment
In recent weeks, there has been growing uncertainty about Carlo Ancelotti’s future at Real Madrid, and Saturday’s defeat to Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final did not strengthen his position.

Now, however, it seems that the experienced Italian is facing a whole new chapter in his career – as national team manager of the legendary Brazilian national team. Journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that almost everyone has noticed that the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) now feels confident that Ancelotti will be their next coach.
An unusual but long-awaited solution
Ancelotti, who has been Real Madrid coach since 2021, has a successful career full of triumphs in club football, but has never before coached a national team. For Brazil, this will be an exceptional choice, as they have traditionally relied on domestic or South American coaches.
But after a disappointing spell under foreigners like Tite and Dorival Júnior, who failed to bring back the traditional “samba football”, Ancelotti’s tactical acumen and experience with star players could be the key to reviving the “Seleção”.

Brazil needs new hope
Brazil, the most winning national team in World Cup history (5 titles), have not lifted the trophy since 2002. Now, with a generation of young stars like Vinícius Jr., Rodrygo and Endrick, the pressure is great to return to the top.
Ancelotti’s ability to deal with big personalities – something he has proven with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and now Jude Bellingham – could be crucial to getting the best out of Brazil’s talent.
When can the deal be ready?
Romano reports that the negotiations are well advanced, but an official announcement is not expected until Ancelotti’s situation in Madrid is clarified. With just one season left on his contract in Spain, the transfer could happen as early as this summer – just in time to prepare the team for World Cup qualification and the 2024 Copa América.
If this happens, it will be one of the most exciting coaching changes in football history – and perhaps the start of a new golden age for Brazilian football.
Carlo Ancelotti has led “what there is” of big clubs, such as Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Everton, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, AC Milan, Napoli … But never a national team. Along the way, he has taken home a total of five Champions League trophies.
