It has been quite a process as Kimmich, one of the world’s best and most consistent midfielders, is heading towards contract expiration. Arsenal and Liverpool are two of the clubs that have seen their chance to take advantage of an opportunity that rarely comes. Now a verbal agreement has been negotiated, it is reported.

But not with the Premier League clubs or PSG. Earlier this month, Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl withdrew the offer they had made to Kimmich for an extension, the club was not willing to offer better terms to the 30-year-old.

This was seen as an opening for the suitors, with Arsenal leading the way. Now it is reported from Germany that Kimmich has landed a deal, where the German national team captain will nevertheless stay at the post in Munich.

According to German Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, it has now all been settled: “Total verbal agreement between FC Bayern and Joshua Kimmich on a new contract until 2029! Green light from the entire Bayern board. Final paperwork is underway. Contracts are due to be signed this week, with the announcement scheduled soon”.
