Brentford boss admits that the attacker wants an Old Trafford transfer, but that he could well stay at the club
Manchester United and Brentford are in ongoing discussions about a transfer for Bryan Mbeumo. According to Sky Sports News, Brentford want a package worth £65 million, while United have so far made an offer of up to £62.5 million. However, Brentford’s sporting director Phil Giles stresses that Mbeumo will also be “happy to stay at Brentford” if a deal is not agreed.

Mbeumo’s future depends on the “right offer”
Brentford director of football Phil Giles confirms that the two clubs have held talks and that Mbeumo prefers a move to Old Trafford – despite interest from Tottenham, who now have his former manager Thomas Frank.
According to Sky Sports News, Brentford are demanding more than £65 million for Mbeumo, while United have so far made an offer worth up to £62.5 million. Giles stresses that a deal is possible, but that it has to be “right” for Brentford.
“There is considerable interest in Bryan. His current preference has become well known,” Giles told Sky Sports News.
“He had an incredible season and we expected there to be interest in him. As far as I understand, he is also, if necessary, happy to stay at Brentford next season as well.
“We have spoken to Bryan and his representatives. It is not a given that he will leave this summer.
“If we get the right offer, there are opportunities for a deal, but there is only so much we can say right now.
Andrews: “Ideal” if Mbeumo gets
Keith Andrews, who recently took over as Brentford manager, shares Giles’ view and says it would be “ideal” for Mbeumo to stay at the club.
“It’s a big boost if he stays,” Andrews said.
“He’s such a talented player. Someone I enjoyed working with – I worked closely with him on set pieces last season – so that would be the ideal outcome.
“I want the most talented players in the squad. I’m very understanding of how football and this club works when it comes to transfers, but most of all I want the best players here.
Nørgaard near Arsenal transfer
According to Sky Sports News, Brentford captain Christian Nørgaard is expected to undergo a medical test this week, after Arsenal agreed a £15 million deal for the Danish midfielder. Andrews praised Nørgaard on his way out to a “fantastic transition” for the 31-year-old.
