In the summer, Paulo Dybala will leave as a free agent from Roma. The Argentine was heavily linked to big clubs in the Premier League for several years, but stayed in Serie A. So what will be the next step for the 32-year-old? The coach who coached Dybala to 14 goals and 14 assists in 56 games is calling.
Paulo Dybala’s record at Roma with Jose Mourinho screaming along the sidelines is good, to say the least. The Portuguese intends to make them even better. Mourinho was sacked at Roma in 2024, made a guest appearance at Fenerbahce, before returning to the domestic league as Benfica coach. According to A Bola, the club is now keeping a door open for Dybala.

The Portuguese media claim Benfica are considering going after Dybala as early as January, although it will be very difficult to lure him to the club. It is especially the Argentine’s high salary that could be a challenge. However, Mourinho’s good relationship with Dybala from their time together at Roma could be the trigger.
Benfica club president Rui Costa hisses when asked about Dybala, but fails to dismiss the potential reunion between Mourinho and his favourite player.
– Who mentioned Dybala? You have to ask the journalist who came up with that story. It is not true. Right now, it’s not true,” Costa told A Bola.
