Today’s least surprising news is that once the manager’s job at Celtic is vacant, they will bring back 73-year-old Martin O’Neill. – He delivered so well the last time he was interim manager.
Scotland’s historically best club is in the middle of a chaotic season that they are not going to win the league.

Now they have brought in Martin O’Neill, who has been one of the few bright spots this season.
Martin O’Neill stepped in at short notice at Celtic at the end of October last year after Brendan Rodgers left the club. Club icon O’Neill, who coached Celtic from 2000 to 2005, led the team to seven wins in eight games before Celtic appointed Wilfried Nancy as their new manager on a permanent basis.

However, his time under Nancy was a failure, and earlier on Monday, Celtic confirmed that Nancy was sacked after six defeats in eight games.
Now, just over a month later, it is clear that O’Neill will return to Celtic for the second time in a short space of time. The 73-year-old will take over as the new manager for the rest of the season, the club confirms on its website. Shaun Maloney and Mark Fotheringham will serve as assistant coaches.
“I’m very happy, in fact very honoured, to be asked to lead the team again and I’m looking forward to starting to work with the players again,” O’Neill said on Celtic’s website.
Celtic have lost ground to Hearts in the battle for the top and are six points behind the league leaders. The defeat to the Rangers at the weekend also invited their arch-rivals into the race for the league title.
