A shocking update on captain Bruno Fernandes’ situation at Manchester United has surfaced in the wake of Michael Carrick’s appointment as interim manager.
Following the dismissal of Rúben Amorim, Darren Fletcher temporarily took charge of United – they drew 2-2 with Burnley and lost to Brighton in the FA Cup third round. United conducted a process to select a new interim manager, and the club first held talks with both Carrick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

When the United management highly valued former Middlesbrough boss Carrick, they chose their former midfielder – who had a three-match spell as interim manager in 2021.
Carrick’s first game will be against rivals Manchester City in Saturday’s derby, and he has been tasked with stabilising the ship before the club look for their 12th manager in 13 years this summer.
The hope is that Carrick will be able to get the players, who did not deliver under Amorim’s approach, to play better. – It is going to be tough and we wish you good luck. But it is not certain that it will be enough for Bruno Fernandes, who has ambitions.
A new report from in Paper says that United have some difficult decisions to make regarding their big stars, with Fernandes’ future being a key focus point.

In the wake of the defeat in the Europa League final against Tottenham, the United captain turned down a lucrative contract offer from the Saudi Arabian professional league.
Al Hilal wanted to reunite him with his Portuguese national team colleagues Rúben Neves and João Cancelo, and negotiations were held with his representatives. Fernandes chose to stay, as he still wants to “play at the highest level and compete for major titles”.
However, the Pete Hall report claims that “there is a general fear” that Fernandes may have “had enough” and will look around for a transfer.
Fernandes, who had a positive relationship with his compatriot Amorim, remains United’s most important player and personality, but a source for the newspaper questioned whether he will continue at Old Trafford during such a turbulent period, given his high ambitions.
Fernandes’ contract clause at Manchester United
With a contract until 2027 with the option of a 12-month extension, Fernandes is expected to attract interest from Saudi Arabia again.
It is also claimed that Bayern Munich are big admirers of the former Sporting CP player and are still interested. Their £87 million transfer of Harry Kane proves that they would have no problem paying significant sums of money for a player in his 30s.
According to the report, Fernandes’ contract included a clause allowing him to leave England for a sum of £57 million – which could spark interest from clubs such as Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
