Another Barça match is moved from the arena. This is confirmed by Barcelona’s city council.
It has been more than two years since Barcelona last played a match at their iconic home ground Camp Nou.
The reason is extensive renovations of the arena that have been delayed time and time again. The latest deadline was for the Catalan giant to return to Camp Nou on September 14, but the return was postponed, and now the date is being moved further.

According to The Athletic, Barcelona’s city council confirmed on Tuesday that the home game against Real Sociedad on Sunday cannot be played at Camp Nou due to security concerns.
“We have identified various elements that need repair and that affect the safety of the arena,” said the head of civil protection, Sebastià Massagué, during a city council meeting on Tuesday.
At the same meeting, Barcelona’s deputy mayor, Laia Bonet, speaks out.
“We share the same wish as the club, namely that Barça can return to the arena as soon as possible. But the city council must guarantee the safety of all fans who visit the arena. This is our top priority. We need to make sure that all professionals and technicians can work as accurately as possible.
Barcelona’s home game against Real Sociedad will instead be played at the Olympic Stadium Montjuïc, the arena the club has used during the period Camp Nou has been renovated.
