The sporting downturn for Albært Grønbæk came not too long after the Bodø/Glimt exit in 2024. Into the Danish national team and a new player at Rennes. What could possibly go wrong? Of course, several factors come into play, but neither Rennes, loan to Southampton, this season Genoa, have given the 24-year-old playing time to develop further – or convince the Danish national team coach he deserves to wear the national team shirt again. Now Grønbæk is working to get a solution that opens the match arena and hopefully the door to the national team squad. In Denmark, an opportunity is being waved.
Last week, Danish Bold reported Dutch, Italian and French clubs have shown interest in the former Bodø/Glimt player, also two Danish clubs were linked to Grønbæk (FC Københanv, FC Midtjylland). Bold asked the sporting director at FC Midtjylland about the matter.

Is Albert Grønbæk an exciting case for you?
– Yes, I think that Grønbæk is an exciting case for many Danish clubs – and for many clubs in general. He is at an age where he still has many good football years in him and a very good bank of experience, because he has been out and played at a high level. He is a skilled player, which is interesting to many, says sports director at FCM, Kristian Bach.
Are you working on signing him?
“We are always working to bring in experienced, Scandinavian top players, and he is of course in that category. If right now we are working with Him or a spirit, I will keep it internal.
The sporting director still sees an opportunity to add about the advantage for Grønbæk to sign with FCM.
“I think it’s a sign that we can bring in a player like Philip Billing from the Premier League, and then he will come in with a big impact on our team and thus on the national team. We would like to be able to offer it to Danish players, where possible, when they play for FC Midtjylland. Because there are not many clubs in Denmark that can have Danish national team players.

“We are incredibly proud of a case like Philip Billing, and it will be the same with a player like Albert Grønbæk or similar. That we can attract them rather than an adventure abroad, and we would like to continue to be able to offer that, the sports director concludes.
