Today, reigning Serie A champions Napoli became even stronger after they announced that goalkeeper giant Vanja Milinkovic-Savic is in place at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
The 28-year-old Serbian national team goalkeeper tells with great enthusiasm his choice.

‘Can’t say no to Antonio Conte’ and promises personal sacrifice for Napoli
Vanja Milinkovic-Savic reveals in his press conference that contact with Napoli started already in March, and that he “couldn’t say no” to manager Antonio Conte. The Serbian goalkeeper also promised a personal sacrifice if the club wins Serie A.
The former Torino goalkeeper was also approached by Leeds United this summer, but was instead waiting for a transfer to Napoli.
The transfer will be a €15 million loan with a mandatory purchase clause of an additional €6 million at the end of the season, with a contract that lasts until June 2030.
“I found out in March that Napoli was interested in me, so since then I’ve had a strong desire to come here,” the Serbian international said during his presentation press conference.
His playing time is far from guaranteed, especially since Alex Meret recently extended his contract with Napoli.
“When a coach like Conte calls, you can’t say no. He told me to work hard in training and be ready,” Milinkovic-Savic added.
“For now, I don’t feel like I’m first or second choice. I came here to be at the disposal of the team, then it is the coach who decides.”
The well-known bearded goalkeeper was asked what he would sacrifice to win Serie A with Napoli – and made a personal promise:
“I’m willing to shave off my beard if we win the series.”
The younger brother of former Lazio player Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has been playing in Italy since 2017. In addition to Turin, he has been on loan to SPAL, Ascoli and Standard Liège.
