Carlos Alcaraz is a 20-year-old Spanish tennis player who has taken the tennis scene by storm in the last two seasons. In 2022, he won the US Open. Thanks to this, he advanced to the position of the leader of the ATP ranking, becoming the youngest person in history to do so. Now he has become the youngest tennis player to reach the Wimbledon quarter-finals in the last nine years. This will be his debut in this phase of Wimbledon.
Carlos Alcaraz writes his own story when, at 20 years, 72 days, he becomes the youngest Wimbledon quarter-finalist since Nick Kyrgios in 2014 (19 years, 70 days). Alcaraz had to work hard to get out of the trap set for him by Matteo Berrettini. The Italian was a worthy opponent, and Alcaraz needed four sets to win. The Spaniard defeated the Italian with a score of 3:6, 6:3, 6:3, 6:3 in three hours and 5 minutes. In the semi-final match, he will meet Holger Rune from Denmark.
Carlos Alcaraz is the fourth still active tennis player from Spain to reach the Wimbledon quarter-finals.
