United boss Ratcliffe is laying off employees at Manchester United, closing free canteens and cutting wages with one hand, while Britain’s richest sign plans for billion-dollar investments with the other hand. The club has one of the highest wage bills in the Premier League, despite the fact that its total salary fell from £365 million in 2023-24 to £313 million last season. Now it is on course for £30 million in extra wage bills, but this is something Sir Jim will smile about.
According to Football Insider , Ratcliffe wants to reduce Man United’s wage bill to under £300 million, but a bonus would make that goal difficult to achieve.

Because according to Football Insider’s sources , the majority of Manchester United’s stars have a clause in their contract that ensures a 25 percent salary increase if the Champions League ticket is secured. This will amount to around £30 million in increased wage costs, it is reported.
With Manchester United’s 8th and 15th places in the Premier League the previous two seasons, it is anything but a given. With Ruben Amorim at the helm, it didn’t look particularly realistic either, but Michael Carrick has breathed new hope into players, supporters and club management with his 4th place with 14 games remaining, after the winning streak against Manchester City, Arsenal and Fulham.
