Martin O’Neill has been in charge of Celtic since the club sacked Brendan Rodgers, and has done a solid job. However, it was clear early on that the former Celtic manager (2000-05) was not intended for the “permanent” position of head coach. Kjetil Knutsen has been on the wish list, until Celtic realized the Norwegian already has something bigger at Bodø/Glimt.

On Tuesday, substitute O’Neill spoke to the media ahead of Wednesday’s game against Dundee. Here he confirmed that Wednesday’s game will be his last as interim head coach.

“A young man comes in and it’s his turn now, but of course we have a big game tomorrow night (Wednesday) and I want to win it,” O’Neill said.

According to the BBC, it is now clear, this “young man” is a 48-year-old with a background from MLS. Wilfried Nancy is the coach who takes over the reins at Cetic. The Frenchman joins from the Columbus Crew in MLS, where he was named coach of the year in 2024.

We welcome the Frenchman to the witch’s cauldron of Celtic.
