Serious trouble has emerged for Chelsea and Ukraine winger Mykhailo Mudryk. Recently absent from his team’s lineups, fans were left wondering what had happened—and now the situation has become clear.
Ukrainian outlet Tribuna reported on Monday night that Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has failed a doping test taken in late October. The banned substance was reportedly found in the player’s A sample, with the B sample to be tested in the coming days.

At this stage, only Sample A has been tested, which returned a positive result. Sample B will soon be analyzed, and if it also tests positive, the player faces a lengthy suspension.
Assuming the B sample confirms the result, Mudryk would face a ban, with UA-Football reporting that he could miss up to four years through suspension. A similar situation recently occurred with Paul Pogba. If the ‘B’ sample comes back negative, then he is not guilty, and the case will be closed.
The winger has been out of the Chelsea squad since being an unused sub against Aston Villa at the start of this month. Manager Enzo Maresca has repeatedly referred to him as being “ill,” which had started to feel suspect after more than two weeks without an update.
UA-Football reporting that their own sources have confirmed that the doping test result is the reason for Mudryk’s recent absence.
This season, Mudryk has made 15 appearances across all competitions, scoring 3 goals and providing 5 assists.
In January 2023, Chelsea paid Shakhtar Donetsk €70 million for Mudryk’s transfer.
