In the transition to September 2025, an agreement was reached between Chelsea and Bayern Munich. Senegalese striker Nicolas Jackson was tired of being told he wasn’t the centre-forward Chelsea needed, and Chelsea management wasn’t happy with his delivery of 30 goals in 81 games. 24 goals and 10 assists in 65 Premier League games would have been received with applause by most clubs, but not at Chelsea. Now it is reported that Jackson and Chelsea are still not quite done with each other.

Bayern Munich signed Jackson on a lease, and a purchase option is included in the contract. So far in the season, Jackson has, unsurprisingly, been relegated to the bench with Harry Kane thundering on with goals. There have been substitutes, but 641 minutes in 22 games says a lot about Jackson’s position at Vincent Kompany.

Earlier this year, Bayern’s Uli Hoeness stated that there is definitely no permanent deal, according to The Times , Bayern have made the decision not to activate the buyout clause.

Previously, Jackson’s agent has stated that his client does not want to return to Chelsea, but a return to Chelsea is pending. There are plenty of stories about Chelsea players returning from loan with no place in the squad, but also no buying club willing to meet wage expectations or Chelsea’s transfer fee demands. Then it often ends up a few months after the end of the season in the “bomb squad”, frozen out of the first-team squad.
