Chelsea basically have way too many players, but as it looks now, we are heading towards a complete restart. It will clearly be another busy summer of transfers, with up to 23 players potentially leaving Stamford Bridge.
After Todd Boehly took over as chairman in 2022, the club has become known for its hyperactive transfer policy. According to a new report from Fichajes, the club is now planning a massive player shake-up to raise money for new signings.

Who can disappear?
Among the big names mentioned are:
- Wesley Fofana (injury-plagued defender)
- Mykhailo Mudryk (attacking profile)
- Jadon Sancho (can be bought from Man United for a permanent transfer)
- Christopher Nkunku (recently signed)
- Raheem Sterling (on loan)
- Reece James (club captain with injury concerns)
Several recent signings are also on the list:
- Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (bought from Leicester last year)
- Marc Guiu (Acquired from Barcelona in 2023)
Loaned players that can be sold:
- Ben Chilwell
- Joao Félix
- Armando Broja
- Kepa Arrizabalaga
Economic Goal:
The club hopes to raise €500 million from the sale to fund new signings.
This comes while Chelsea:
- Fighting for Champions League place (5th place gives CL)
- Are favourites in the Conference League
- Will participate in the Club World Cup
Now another 23 players could disappear in what will be one of the biggest player upheavals in Premier League history.
Fofana and Mudryk are mentioned as players who have uncertain futures at Stamford Bridge, as well as Christopher Nkunku, midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – who only joined last summer from Leicester City, goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, Noni Madueke, striker Marc Guiu – who himself only joined from Barcelona last summer, David Datro Fofana and Reece James.
The report also mentions players who are currently out on loan at other clubs who could be sold this summer to increase transfer funds.
These include defender Ben Chilwell, Axel Disasi, Andrey Santos, Joao Felix, Lesley Ugochukwu, Carney Chukwuemeka, Raheem Sterling, Armando Broja, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Mike Penders, Deivid Washington, Caleb Wiley, Alfie Gilchrist and Bashir Humphreys.
