Marc Cucurella is one of Chelsea’s most established players and a big profile in the Premier League with his impressive mane, tough play and temperament. The Spaniard has played the Blues to the Europa League title and trophy in the Club World Cup, but is tired of the gap to titles in the Premier League and Champions League. Now he talks about disagreements with the club’s management.
It is not often that players speak negatively to their employer’s deliberate priorities, but many Chelsea supporters will agree with Cucurella’s criticism. Chelsea is no longer rigged for the biggest titles. 2-8 defeats against PSG and two tough losses in the Premier League against Newcastle and Everton have probably made the Spaniard draw the conclusion.

“I understand that it is part of the club’s strategy, and that they want to go in that direction – with a focus on bringing in young players and thinking about the future. But for those of us who are still here and want to win the biggest titles, moments like this can be demotivating,” Cucurella begins in an interview with The Athletic.
“We have a good group of players. The foundations are in place, but to compete for the biggest trophies such as the Premier League or Champions League, more is required. If you only sign young players, it can make it harder to achieve these goals. Against PSG, we lacked players with experience from that type of game,” the Spaniard continues.
“You also need time, and I know that it is the young players who will build that experience in the future. But you have to find the right balance between the two worlds,” Marc Cucurella told The Athletic.
