The Blues are waiting to find out if they will succeed in their latest offer for AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

The Blues are under time pressure to finalise certain transfer deals before Tuesday’s deadline, which comes before the start of the Club World Cup later this week. On Monday, Chelsea announced that they had completed the signing of Strasbourg defender Mamadou Sarr and midfielder Dario Essugo has also been brought in from Sporting Lisbon.

The focus over the next 24 hours is on getting a deal in place for Maignan, while there are also reportedly discussions about Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens.

Reports from France suggest that Maignan has already informed AC Milan that he has no intention of extending his contract at the San Siro beyond 2026.

What’s the latest news about Maignan?

According to The Standard, Chelsea are waiting to find out if Milan are willing to accept their latest offer.

Chelsea have reportedly improved their offer from £10 million to £15 million in the hope of finalising a deal.

Milan are reportedly still adamant that they want around £25m for the 29-year-old, despite his contract situation and lack of European games next season.

Maignan is said to be steadfast in his decision to move to Stamford Bridge as soon as possible, especially since Chelsea have secured Champions League play.

Will Chelsea make a higher offer?

Aside from potentially including bonuses in the offer, it seems unlikely that Chelsea will go any higher for Maignan at this point.

Robert Sanchez, Filip Jorgensen and Mike Penders are already ready to travel to the United States for the Club World Cup.

Even if Milan say no now, Chelsea can always come back later this summer, but that won’t necessarily benefit Milan more than a sale now.

In addition, all parties may have an interest in maintaining a good working relationship. Several players have moved from Chelsea to Milan in recent years, and the amount of talent at Stamford Bridge makes future deals realistic.
