Liverpool and Manchester City are both said to be interested in signing Chelsea star Cole Palmer this summer.
The England international has failed to score in his last 16 appearances across all competitions, but he remains one of the world’s most promising young talents – and several top European clubs are monitoring his situation at Stamford Bridge closely.

Liverpool and Manchester City “smell” the opportunity
According to an exclusive report from Chelsea journalist Simon Phillips, both Liverpool and Manchester City are on the lookout for Palmer, despite his contract with Chelsea running until 2033.
Palmer spent a whopping 13 years at Manchester City before being sold to Chelsea in 2023, but now Pep Guardiola’s side are reportedly interested in bringing him back. Phillips claims that City have already sent an unofficial request for the player.
Liverpool are also showing interest, even after Mohamed Salah recently extended his contract for two more years.
Frustration is building up
Palmer has been linked with an exit from Chelsea several times, including after the team’s humiliating 3-0 loss to Brighton in February.
After that game, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher told Sky Sports:
“This project of investing in young players has a problem – the very best players don’t want to wait. Cole Palmer is one of the Premier League’s best players. You can see the frustration starting to build up.”
“He’s good enough to fight for the biggest trophies – he scores in the Euros. Chelsea must qualify for the Champions League. If they don’t, it will be a disaster. Cole Palmer isn’t going to wait for years.”
Cryptic Instagram post sparked speculation
In mid-April, Chelsea fans became further concerned when Palmer posted a cryptic post on Instagram that many interpreted as a stinging comment to manager Enzo Maresca.
What will it take to get him away?
With a full eight years left on his contract, Chelsea are likely to demand an offer well above his estimated transfer value of €120 million to let him go.

What now?
Will Palmer stay at Chelsea to build on the “project”, or will he be lured by a more immediate opportunity to fight for titles? With City’s interest and Liverpool’s need for creativity on edge, this could be one of the most exciting transfer sagas of the summer.
