Alexander Isak remains a top target for Liverpool this summer.
Amid claims that Alexander Isak to Liverpool is “ready”, David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano have given conflicting updates on the biggest transfer of the summer.

Isak has agreed personal terms with Liverpool and continues to resist Newcastle’s attempts to reintegrate him back into first-team training. Liverpool have only made one bid for the Newcastales star so far, worth £110 million plus add-on clauses. The Magpies value the striker at £150 million.

Liverpool have not explored movements for alternatives, so strong is their desire to sign Isak and not settle for an inferior second choice.
But with the deadline tomorrow evening at 7 p.m. approaching, time is running out for an agreement to be made.
One report that surfaced in the last 24 hours claims that Isak’s transfer to Liverpool for a sum of around £130 million was ready. However, the latest updates from Romano and Ornstein have painted a different picture, and according to Ornstein, Liverpool may not make a second bid anyway.
Romano on Isaac
First, on his YouTube channel last night, Romano stated: “Alexander Isak, contacts again today. All sources involved from Liverpool, Newcastle and the player’s side deny that a deal has been made.”
“It’s not about games, it’s not about Liverpool or Newcastle playing, it’s not consensus.”
“But I can confirm that optimism at Liverpool is still present. Liverpool have not activated any other option that has been offered because, this week, three players have been offered Liverpool – really important players.”
“Liverpool continue to say that they are optimistic. The story of getting Alexander Isak is still certainly on, but it’s not finished.”
“But Liverpool’s sources maintain optimism. Liverpool are still confident and Alexander Isak is certainly not about to change his mind.”
Ornstein on Isaac
However, while Romano insists Liverpool are ready to pounce, Ornstein stated that the Reds are not actively accelerating a transfer due to concerns over the price tag.
Speaking on Sky Sports on Sunday morning, Ornstein stated that Liverpool believe their previous bid of £110 million plus additional clauses should have been enough to close a deal.
The Reds are prepared to go a little further, with a sum of £120 million mentioned by the reporter. However, they are not in the mood to reach £130 million and will not approach Newcastal’s top valuation of £150 million.
Ornstein reiterated that Newcastle do not want to sell despite the fact that they have spent large sums of money on Nick Woltemade and are still exploring a transfer for a second striker. Yoane Wissa and Jørgen Strand Larsen are still on Newcastale’s radar.
The reliable reporter then stated that talk of a new Liverpool bid that is imminent is not necessarily true.
In his opinion, the Reds can wait for Newcastle to come to them and open the doors for Isak’s sale. If Newcastle don’t, there is no guarantee that Liverpool will bid again.
