Bodø/Glimt are back on the winning track again after “being tired” after Europa League success. A good part of that success can be attributed to a number of good Danish players. – Now a new Danish star is wanted in Aspmyra.

On Saturday, Bodø/Glimt won away at Lyse Arena against league leader Viking and showed that they are in the gold medal match this year as well.

The 24-year-old right winger Mathias Jørgensen, who has experience as captain at the top level in Denmark, is very likely on his way to Norwegian football.

Bodø/Glimt have made a massive bid to Aalborg, who have followed up the bid with a stock exchange announcement. – The bid is said to be 3.5 million euros, which the Danish newspaper Bold writes under the headline “BodøGlimt is chasing Jørgensen again”

The Norwegian champions were also in negotiations with AaB earlier this summer, but at that time the two clubs were unable to reach an agreement.

Danish success track in Glimt

If the transfer is realized, Jørgensen will be the newest Danish player in a long line of successful Danish Glimt players. In the past, the club has benefited greatly from:

  • Philip Zinckernagel (2019-2021) – Key player in the golden season
  • Kasper Høgh (2024) the striker came from Stabæk and has delivered goals on a continuous basis
  • Jeppe Kjaer (2024 – 2025) the attacking midfielder was just sold to Mjällby
  • Albert Grønbæk (2022 – 2024) sold to French football for big money
  • Jens Petter Hauge (Danish mother, played for Glimt before the Milan transfer and who is now back and fit)
  • Kasper Junker (2020-2021) – Scored 27 goals in one season
  • Mikkel Maigaard (2022) – Midfielder with solid efforts

Flexible attacking player

Jørgensen has played mostly as a right winger, but can also be used centrally or on the left in attack.

The deal is approaching

The clubs are now in intense negotiations, and an agreement should be closer than ever. – There should be agreement on a total framework of 3.5 million euros, of which 0.5 million euros should be linked to bonuses.

Jørgensen has a contract with Aalborg until 2028 and has impressed with 27 goals and 9 assists in 52 games. He has previously played for Esbjerg, New York Red Bulls and Aarhus GF.
