Over the past year, Cristiano Ronaldo has made statements that show a course towards the purchase of football clubs. CR7 admits he is not the type to become a coach, but to own and manage a club, that is something completely different. On Thursday, it was confirmed that Ronaldo is now in the process of starting part two of his career in the world of football.

According to EFE, Ronaldo has bought 25 percent of the shares in Almeria, which is currently in third place in Spain’s second-best division, the Segunda Division. This is confirmed by the protagonist himself.

“I have long had the ambition to contribute to football beyond the pitch. Almeria is a Spanish club with a solid base and a clear growth potential. I want to work with the management team that runs the club, to support it in this new phase of growth,” Ronaldo said, according to Spanish news agency Agencia EFE.

Almeria’s majority ownership is Saudi Arabian, and Ronaldo’s entry pleases club president Mohamed al Khereiji.

“He is considered the best on the pitch, knows the Spanish leagues very well and understands the potential of what we are building here – both in terms of first and ademi,” says Al Khereiji.

According to EFE, 41-year-old Ronaldo has made his investment through CR7 Sports Investments, a new branch of the company CR7 SA, which Ronaldo uses to manage his business and investments.
