Alarm bells are ringing louder and louder at Anfield and it doesn’t look like the bottom has been reached yet. Liverpool with their impressive star gallery have now lost nine games in twelve after being humiliated by PSV Eindhoven at home in the Champions League.

Liverpool are in their worst form since 1950
The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in their last twelve games on Wednesday night, after being defeated 4-1 at Anfield against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.
Liverpool lost 3-0 to Nottingham Forest on Saturday and wanted to respond in Europe, where they had beaten Real Madrid not so long ago.
But they were 1-0 down early on after Ivan Perisic scored a penalty that Virgil van Dijk conceded for handball. Dominik Szoboszlai equalised for Liverpool not long after, but Arne Slot’s men collapsed in the second half, with Couhaib Driouech scoring two goals after a goal from Guus Til.
Liverpool have conceded seven goals at Anfield in their last two games and 16 goals in their last seven games across all competitions, and the team’s confidence has plummeted to worrying levels.
After the defeat, Curtis Jones had post-match media responsibility for Liverpool and couldn’t hide his anger and disappointment – he even admitted that his team “is in the shit” and called the situation “unacceptable”.
“I don’t know, I don’t have the answers – I’m the same as everyone else,” a downbeat Jones told RTE Sport.
“Just unacceptable, to be honest. I don’t even have words. I’m past anger and sadness. I’m at a point now where I don’t have the words, and it’s hard to actually find the words.”
“I’m a player and a fan. For a very, very long time, I haven’t experienced a team that plays that badly, and the results are like this.”
He added: “At the end of the day, we still have that brand on our chest, so until that mark goes away, we’re always going to fight and try to get this team back to where it needs to be and show the whole world why Liverpool is the best team in the world.”
“But as of now, we’re in the shit, and that needs to change.”
Despite spending more than £400m on new signings this summer, Liverpool are in their worst form since 1950, with a lot of pressure building around Arne Slot and a new favourite to replace him.
Reflecting on the crisis his team is in, he told TNT Sports: “I want to be positive about the reaction of the players after we went 1-0 down, because up until half-time we played a good game.”
“The only way to go is to get through it. We have to face the situation we are in and fight very hard.”
In 13th place in the Champions League after five games and 12th in the Premier League, they return to action on Sunday when they travel to West Ham in the hope of ending this miserable period.
