Even Danish Thomas Frank managed to save Tottenham from another humiliating season. – After being unemployed for a while, he is now the favourite to take over as manager of Crystal Palace. – Something that experts refer to as a new development.
Crystal Palace have not yet made a commitment in the search for a replacement Oliver Glasner, who will leave the club in the summer. – He refused to extend his contract and was until recently one of the favourites to take over the manager’s chair at Old Trafford.

The Austrian is in his final months at Selhurst Park, hoping to say goodbye with a bang by winning the Conference League. The Eagles are unbeaten in their last four games across all competitions, and face league runners-up Fiorentina twice in the quarter-finals.
Glasner’s departure in the summer has been known for a while, although it previously looked like he was in danger of being fired long before the end of the season. Thomas Frank, who was shown the door at Tottenham in February, has now been named as the favourite to take over for the 51-year-old.
Thomas Frank leads the race to replace Oliver Glasner
Football Insider has revealed that Palace had already researched Frank ahead of a possible summer move – and decision-makers are said to have been impressed by his time at Brentford.
The Dane spent almost seven years at the Gtech Community Stadium, where he led the Bees to establishment in the Premier League, before making the move to Tottenham last summer.
| Thomas Frank | Brentford |
|---|---|
| Victories | 136 |
| Draws | 71 |
| Losses | 110 |
| Goals scored | 527 |
| Goals conceded | 418 |
There is little doubt that the stay at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was a massive failure.
Frank let the Lilywhites struggle in the relegation battle after only seven wins in 26 Premier League games as boss – only two of which came at home.
Frank made Brentford a physical, energetic and entertaining team. His Tottenham, on the other hand, was slow, cumbersome and almost unbearably boring. (Which they have continued to be)
So it’s the time before this season that Palace seem to be aiming for – and for good reason.
The Eagles are a club of roughly the same calibre as Brentford, with comparable ambitions to surprise and fight for European play.
Glasner did just that when he won the FA Cup last year. Now the management at Selhurst Park hopes to experience something similar again.
Former Tottenham manager new favourite with the bookmakers
At a major bookmaker, Frank is now the favourite for the job at odds of 5/2, while Robbie Keane (7/4) and Sean Dyche (8/1) are still among others.
Arteta’s words about Frank say it all
Frank’s reputation in the Premier League has taken a hit this season, but it is far from ruined.
His time at Brentford has not been forgotten – and his next job could be just what he needs.
“Thomas is an outstanding coach,” Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said after Frank was sacked.
“He is also an extraordinary person, something he has proven in the Premier League.
“We know that our responsibility is about more than just results. Sometimes it’s the results that decide our fate. I wish him all the best in the road ahead.
