Not surprisingly, Darwin Núñez is considering his future at Al-Hilal.
Liverpool rivals are being urged to sign Darwin Núñez in what would be a sensational return to the Premier League.
Núñez joined Liverpool from Benfica for an original £64 million in the summer of 2022, but was unable to justify the hefty price tag as he scored just 25 league goals in 95 appearances.

He came on with some big moments, including his two goals against Newcastle United in an away win, but left Anfield without quite delivering much. Liverpool brought in £46.3 million when they sent the Uruguayan striker on to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal last year.
Núñez, who has scored nine goals in 25 appearances across all competitions for the club, is believed to be considering his future after being replaced by Karim Benzema in the squad.
Several English clubs are believed to be interested in bringing him back to the league after his tenure at Liverpool, including Newcastle United and Tottenham.
Marcel Desailly, who has over 150 appearances over six seasons for Chelsea, wants them to go after Núñez, describing him as a ‘smart player’.
“I would actually recommend Núñez to Chelsea,” former Blues captain Desailly told Foot Italia. “He’s a very good player, a smart player – he just needs the right environment to perform. When Liverpool identified his potential, they knew what they had statistically.”
Desailly added, “But when you start on a bad note, your confidence disappears, and the consideration of those around you follows. It’s like Dennis Bergkamp who went to Inter Milan – things went completely wrong. Or Roberto Carlos in his early days, who shot the ball into the stands. The confidence wasn’t there.”
“That’s what happened to Núñez at Liverpool. But the quality is still there. He’s at Al-Hilal now and has scored around six goals in 16 games [actually nine in 24] – not bad at all.”
Chelsea’s current options at the top include names like João Pedro and Liam Delap.
Pedro has scored 14 goals in all competitions – including 11 league goals, while Delap has just two goals to his name this season.
Núñez’s best return for Liverpool was 11 league goals, but considering he had three seasons under his belt in England, he may feel that a return to the Premier League is unfinished business.
At 26, he is entering his physical prime, so he has many years to offer Chelsea, who are known for offering long-term contracts.
