Manchester United will have to lick their financial and sporting wounds after the season, a hectic activity in the transfer market has been announced. Now it’s about rebuilding and building up a squad that does not bear the mark of cost cuts. Liam Delap is one of the United targets already delivering in the Premier League (12 goals this season), has a buyout clause of around £30 million – and is still 22 years young. In recent months, the Ipswich player has been heavily linked to the gang at Old Trafford.

A potentially perfect striker for United in the situation the club finds themselves in, but after the last few months of poor results, even Delap could slip away. When the 22-year-old meets Everton manager David Moyes, the Ipswich star has definitely not set his course for Old Trafford.

At a press conference before the weekend, Everton manager Moyes confirmed that he is in dialogue with the 22-year-old.

“He has spoken to three or four clubs. He has given us the opportunity to present our project. We’re probably a little bit behind in the field, but hopefully – you never know what can happen,” Moyes said according to the Liverpool Echo.

Everton finish in 13th place, have new owners in place, a new stadium, David Moyes who has legend status at the club and has shown he is the right man to lift Everton. A fairly stark contrast to United’s balancing on the relegation line in the Premier League, A stadium that leaks like a sieve when it rains, a new owner who has turned absolutely everything upside down without results – and a manager who doesn’t win games in the Premier League.

It’s surprising to have to say it, but here and now, Everton stands as a better choice for Liam Delap than Manchester United.
