Amid the stubborn speculation surrounding Carlo Ancelotti’s future at Real Madrid, the club is now set to lose his most trusted employee. According to reports, assistant coach – and more importantly – his son Davide Ancelotti will leave the club after the season.
A unique coaching duo
Davide Ancelotti has been part of his father’s coaching staff since 2012, from when Carlo took over Paris Saint-Germain. Originally, he worked as a physical trainer, but has gradually taken on more responsibility and followed his father from club to club. When Carlo returned to the Santiago Bernabéu in 2021, Davide was promoted to assistant coach.

Will stand on its own two feet!
According to The Athletic, the 35-year-old wants to start his own coaching career, and this summer could be the right time. His possible departure is also one of the main reasons why Carlo himself may be more open to leaving Madrid than before.
- Davide had been linked to the Everton job, where he also worked alongside his father.
- The plan is to bring Francesco Mauri, another Real Madrid coach, with him as his assistant. But David Moyes has found his place there. There are other clubs that are relevant, it has to be in one of the five big leagues, besides La Liga and it has to be a club with ambitions.
Davide is highly valued in Valdebebas and has had a great influence on the team’s training sessions, tactical work and the dressing room in general.
During matches, he is often actively involved in toucheline discussions with both players and his father.
If Davide follows through, it could trigger a chain reaction – not only for Real Madrid, but also for Carlo Ancelotti’s own future. Will this be the end of an era for father and son working together?
