Postecoglou led Spurs to their first trophy in 17 years, but this came on the eve of their worst ever Premier League season with a 17th-place finish.

Qualification for next season’s Champions League had given Postecoglou reason to be optimistic about being allowed to continue, but journalist Sacha Tavolieri now reports that the Australian coach is to be sacked.

Although no formal decision has been made yet, Tottenham have already identified Brentford’s Thomas Frank and Fulham manager Marco Silva as possible candidates on their shortlist.

French outlet FootMercato go a step further by claiming that Tottenham ‘have been in contact’ with Frank, with the Danish coach reportedly discussing the club’s vision and summer transfer targets.

Frank is feared to be at the top of Tottenham’s list, but there is still work to be done on both Postecoglou’s departure and negotiations with the Brentford manager if the club go down this route.

Tottenham fears player protests at Postecoglou departure
According to football.london, Postecoglou still has support in the squad despite a turbulent season, where it is claimed that the pressured manager ‘still has strong backing’ from his players.

A change of management raises fears of negative reactions in the dressing room, and Tottenham manager Daniel Levy is still considering the decision at the same time as the club is undergoing major changes at management level.

Spurs are planning to hire former Arsenal director Vinai Venkatesham as their new CEO, while the return of former sporting director Fabio Paratici is also ‘expected’ in the near future.

Postecoglou has shown himself to be adamant about his future and believes he has fulfilled the tasks that were set, having ended Spurs’ trophy drought and secured Champions League qualification next season. Negotiations on his position are therefore expected to drag on in the coming days and weeks.
