The headline in GSM is that Celtic must remove Brendan Rodgers and reunite with a manager who remains a favourite among the club’s supporters.
As winners of the last four Scottish Premiership seasons, the club have started the 2025/26 season in a way they are not used to.

After losing 3-1 to Hearts away at Tynecastle at the weekend, the gap between Celtic and the hosts naturally became even bigger. The Heats lead the league after nine games with eight points. Many have wondered if this could be the first time in four decades that a team outside the Old Firm has won the Scottish top division.
While it was a brilliant result for Hearts, the defeat for Celtic was their second in a row in the league. Before the loss to Hearts, Celtic lost 2-0 away to Dundee. After that game, Rodgers equated his players with someone who drives a Honda Civic and is asked to drive it like a Ferrari.
Given the form and overall mood so far this season, it could be time for Celtic to end Rodgers’ second spell in charge of the club. The Northern Irish manager had been there before, between 2016 and 2019.
This idea may have been reinforced due to the recent availability of a particular manager.
Celtic should replace Rodgers with Postecoglou.
After being hired by Tottenham in 2023, Ange Postecoglou was sacked in the summer, despite winning the 2024/25 Europa League with the club. Just weeks later, he replaced Nuno Espirito Santo at Nottingham Forest. However, as he inherited a squad that was not designed for his style of play, Postecoglou failed to win a single game with Forest and was sacked after only eight games.
Now that Postecoglou is clubless again, Celtic should do everything they can to tempt the 60-year-old Australian to return to Glasgow. During his tenure from 2021 to 2023, Postecoglou won five trophies with the Bhoys, including two league titles. Although the last few months have not been in his favour, Postecoglou has proven his worth as a manager throughout his career.
Postecoglou’s high-intensity, forward-thinking style of play worked wonders at Celtic Park, and he is still loved by the club’s supporters. Rodgers, on the other hand, has been questioned for some time now, and his recent comments about his players have done little to change public opinion.
There is still enough time for Celtic to try and keep the title they have held for so long. By re-hiring Postecoglou, who is reportedly open to a return, the club would certainly be sending a message to the rest of the Premiership.
