There is still a lot of uncertainty about the future of Manchester United, even though manager Michael Carrick has managed to reverse a very negative trend for the rest of the season. – Before Sunday’s home meeting at Old Trafford against Aston Villa, Manchester United are in 3rd place with the same points as Sunday’s opponent.

A Manchester United star appears to be ready to follow Casemiro out of the club at the end of the season.

Casemiro will leave Manchester United when his current contract expires at the end of the season. He has been at the club since 2022 following his £70 million transfer from Real Madrid.

Casemiro has played 153 games across all competitions and helped them to triumphs in the League Cup and FA Cup. His departure will leave a void in Michael Carrick’s squad, and the club is believed to be on the hunt for two new midfielders.

In addition to incoming players, however, Manchester United are planning to get rid of the player, while Joshua Zirkzee is looking towards an exit.

Joshua Zirkzee has been disillusioned with his inability to convince Carrick that he is worthy of more minutes on the pitch. The Dutchman has struggled for game time this season and could miss out on the Netherlands’ World Cup squad.

He has played 20 games across all competitions, but only four games from the start.

Zirkzee was heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford during the winter transfer window, but the club failed to approve his sale.

A return to Italy was floated as a possibility, after he joined Manchester United from Bologna for £36.5 million in the summer of 2024.

Juventus and AS Roma enquired about the 24-year-old, and a move back to Italy is a possibility.

He was brought in to support Rasmus Hojlund, but he failed to make much of an impression as a pure striker after describing himself as a ‘9.5’.

Last summer, Manchester United signed Benjamin Sesko for £74 million, and although he has had a recent goal-scoring spell, they have often started without a traditional number 9 this season.

Given that the Red Devils have started with the likes of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha as false 9s, a potential sale of Zirkzee could see them reinvest funds elsewhere in the squad, including in defence and midfield.

Zirkzee has scored nine goals in 69 appearances in all competitions since signing for Manchester United. He has two goals in his nav this season.
