Earlier this month, transfer journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported that Kevin de Bruyne had already received an offer from Liverpool. The Belgian is not leaving Manchester City voluntarily and has signalled he is ready for more Premier League and Champions League, but a move from City to Liverpool for the Premier League’s second highest paid player would be absolutely spectacular. Too spectacular to be carried out, according to an English financial adviser who follows the Premier League closely from a financial perspective.

Stefan Borson says to Football-Insider he will be “extremely shocked” if the 33-year-old ends up at Anfield.

“They might be able to do it, but they won’t do it, not unless De Bruyne is willing to take a very big pay cut from what he has at the moment,” Borron said.

“But if you’re going to Liverpool, where you know, because it’s everywhere in the press, that Van Dijk and Salah are making £400,000 a week each, and I think De Bruyne would say, ‘I’m coming, but I’d like to have a similar salary,'” the financial adviser continues.

-I just don’t think they’re interested at all. I would be completely shocked if they made that deal. When they already have two players in their mid-30s who are going to be mainstays of the team next season, I don’t see any possibility that they will add a third experienced player. Borson says.

“It’s Kevin De Bruyne, but there are big question marks over his form and his ability to play a 60-game season next season. I would be extremely shocked if it happened,” Borson concludes.
