Barcelona’s transfer plans must be scrapped and restarted after a decision by La Liga that has disastrous consequences for the club. It is now claimed that the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor was done under false premises.
Financial crisis hits Barcelona
Barca were confident that they would meet La Liga’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) requirements, which would mean they could use revenue from player sales for new signings.

But the Spanish league has now turned down a critical €100 million deal for VIP pilots, which was needed to register Olmo and Pau Victor in January. The agreement has not been included in the club’s latest financial reports.
La Liga butchers Barcelona’s financial management
LaLiga has published a nine-point statement in which they criticize both the club and the auditor responsible for Barcelona’s accounts.
Thus, Barcelona still exceeds the FFP limits and faces a huge financial gap. La Liga also claims that Barca registered Pau Victor and Dani Olmo under improper conditions, which could lead to further punishment.
Barcelona had big plans for the transfer window in the hope of keeping up with rivals Real Madrid.
Several high-profile goalkeepers, including Lionel Messi and Neymar, were linked to the club. But now it looks like these dream signings will have to be put on hold.

Messi dream shattered?
Barca had hoped to get Messi back for the opening of the renovated Camp Nou. The Argentine, who now plays for Inter Miami, left the club in tears in 2021 when it emerged that Barcelona could not afford to renew his contract.
Now a possible return for the 37-year-old is threatened by this latest economic crisis. Barcelona’s entire summer strategy needs to be reassessed urgently – just weeks before the transfer window opens.
The club is no stranger to financial challenges and has impressively balanced budgets in recent seasons. They have picked up properly on the free agent market and secured Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen on a free transfer.
But now they will probably have to focus on cheap solutions – and cancel their dreams of star signings.
