Premier League legend Cesc Fàbregas has long been linked with a return to England as manager of a top club, but so far he has focused on his relatively new success at Serie A club Como.
In July 2024, Italian club Como confirmed that Fàbregas had been promoted to become the club’s permanent manager on a four-year contract following the club’s promotion to Serie A.

Cesc Fàbregas had previously served as both assistant and interim manager, with his impressive performances leading him to take over full-time. – As an assistant, he took the necessary courses at UEFA to be able to manage a big club.
Since then, Fàbregas has continued to impress with Como, which has led to various links to a return to the Premier League as manager of a top club.
It is expected that several clubs will enquire about his availability in the summer, and one Premier League legend has suggested that he may know which club is most likely to secure Fàbregas’ signature.
During his playing career, Fàbregas represented several clubs in England, playing for both Arsenal and London rivals Chelsea for several seasons. But according to Chelsea legend Eden Hazard, it is the blue side of London that could be Fàbregas’ next destination when he leaves Como.
In an interview with Italian media outlet Gazetta dello Sport, Hazard revealed that he has kept in touch with his former teammate and believes that he is “determined” to become one of the best managers in the world.
“I’ll be honest. We talked a bit during the summer. I told him that he was one of the best midfielders in history and that he is also destined to become one of the best coaches,” Hazard claimed.
“I explained that it was time for him to return to Chelsea and he joked about it, but I really think so.”
“He loves football, he knows everything about the game. I’m a Chelsea fan and I want the best for the club: that’s why I dream of seeing Cesc on the bench, while I’m in the stands, behind him, enjoying the show.”
Of course, for Fàbregas to be appointed in the summer, or anytime for that matter, it would require current Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior to leave his position.
Rosenior joined Chelsea in January following former manager Enzo Maresca’s dramatic departure from the club, and has impressed so far.
Chelsea have won six of their first eight games under the former Strasbourg boss, with their only defeat coming against London rivals Arsenal in both games of their Carabao Cup semi-final.
