It is nothing new that players from Denmark are brought to the Eliteserien, while elite league players are drawn to the Superliga. In the case of Viking and Brøndby, there was still a transfer traffic between 2022 and 2024 that was very special. So special that Viking became a talking point in the dressing room with the Danes.

In the period 2022 to 2024, there were many agreements between Brøndby and Viking. Brøndby’s football director at the time, Carsten V. Jensen, often looked towards Stavanger. Joe Bell, Henrik Heggheim and Sebastian Sebulonsen were all brought in from Viking, Sebulonsen talks about the “sister clubs”.

“Yes, I remember quite well that some jokes were made about it. The jokes also came into the dressing room, where we were teased a bit about it, but it was only meant lovingly. It never bothered me. It is not so common to sign contracts with three players from the same club in such a short time, says Sebulonsen.

The former Viking/Brøndby full-back is a regular in the starting eleven at FC Köln in the Bundesliga, but of course still follows Viking.

“It’s been a while since I played in Norway. So it’s hard to say (whether the level in the Eliteserien compared to the Superliga is the highest), but seen from the outside, it definitely looks like Norwegian football has improved in recent years. So it’s fun to watch, especially when things are also going so well for Viking, says Sebulonsen to Bold with a smile.
