Since his debut for the England national team in 2017, Jordan Pickford has been between the sticks when the Three Lions enter the international match. With 75 appearances, the Everton goalkeeper is on a par with Joe Hart and David Seaman as England’s goalkeeper with the second most caps behind Peter Shilton (125 games). When Thomas Tuchel smilingly took over the reins as England manager last year, this could mean that Pickford loses momentum towards the legendary Shilton’s record.
According to The Telegraph, Pickford’s first-choice goalkeeper position is in jeopardy. Tuchel has other favourites, according to the English media, the German has two goalkeepers to test himself as number 1.

Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson is one of the main candidates to replace Pickford, having enjoyed an outstanding season that culminated in an FA Cup triumph last weekend. In terms of clean sheets, only David Raya and Nottingham Forest’s Matz Sels managed more than Henderson’s 11, a figure that only Pickford equals.
The other goalkeeper is a 21-year-old for the future. James Trafford played an important role in Burnley’s direct promotion to the Premier League, and was a star player for England’s U21 team during their Euros success. The English newspaper describes Trafford as a long-term option, but could get opportunities earlier than expected.
