At the end of August, Patrick Bamford said goodbye to Leeds, who he had played for since 2018. The 32-year-old probably thought he would land a new club reasonably quickly, but it has taken until today for that to become a reality. It was Chris Wilder, who returned to Bramall Lane in mid-September, who came to the rescue for Bamford.
So far, it has not led to any boost for Sheffield United, who are struggling in 22nd place in the Championship, with an imminent threat of relegation.

Sheffield United have confirmed that they have signed Patrick Bamford and given him a contract until the end of the season.
The 32-year-old striker has been without a club since he left Leeds United after last season.
The veteran has first and foremost signed a short-term deal with the Championship club.
Bamford has played for a number of English clubs throughout his career, including Chelsea, Middlesbrough, and Leeds United. In addition, he has had loan spells at several clubs such as MK Dons, Crystal Palace and Norwich City.
The highlight of his career came in the 2020/21 season when he scored 17 goals in the Premier League for Leeds.
Bamford also has one cap for the England men’s national team.
