Bayer Leverkusen’s sporting director Simon Rolfes sees the biggest stars such as Jonathan Tah, Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz disappear from the club, now they are working intensely to build up a new tribe of players under Erik ten Hag who can replicate the success of the last two years and take the next step. It was therefore with a wide grin that Rolfes was able to present Axwl Tape as a new Bayer Leverkusen player.

The 17-year-old has three first-team appearances for PSG, but chose not to sign a contract with the Ligue 1 giant. Leverkusen convinced the centre-back to continue his development in the Bundesliga. We understand from the sports director that this is a solid warp for the club.

Axel Tape has so far two U18 caps for France.
