Dutch manager Erik ten Hag was dismissed by Manchester United’s board and remains without a club.

Erik ten Hag has broken his silence on his future plans four months after leaving Manchester United.

During his time at Old Trafford, Ten Hag enjoyed some success, securing the Carabao Cup and FA Cup titles. However, his tenure was marred by struggles in both the Premier League and European competitions, ultimately leading to his departure.

Ineos made the call back in October to sack Erik ten Hag following a poor start to the season. It came just months after the Manchester United ownership handed the Dutchman a new one-year deal.

Reports claimed Ten Hag was “devastated” by the sacking and the 55-year-old has not rushed into another managerial role since leaving Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag confirms plan to return

Ten Hag has stated that he is not planning to return to coaching until July 1, 2025, meaning he will wait until the start of the new season before taking on a new job.

“I’ve already decided not to take any job until the 1st of July, so until the start of the new season”.

Speaking about his time at United, Ten Hag admitted: “If there’s one thing I miss, it’s Old Trafford”.

“We’ve had many highs at Man United, but as I always say: there is always room for improvement. Good is not enough.”

Ten Hag’s future after this break remains to be seen, but the 2025 season will likely see him return to management, potentially with a new challenge in one of Europe’s top leagues.
