Centre-back giant Jonathan Tah has left Leverkusen for his rival in Munich. Jeremie Frimpong was picked up by Liverpool, Florian Wirtz is on his way to Anfield as well. Leverkusen coach Erik ten Hag is left with three large craters that need to be filled. One of these will be filled with a real up and coming Liverpool player, but it will come at a cost.

Jarell Quansah is one of the most prominent “products” of the club’s academy in recent years. He had a breakthrough in the 2023-24 season, and even managed to push Ibrahima Konate out into a starting role alongside Virgil van Dijk towards the end of the season. This season under Arne Slot, there have only been 1290 minutes in the match arena, 488 in the Premier League. This is the player Bayer Leverkusen now intend to bring in for the title race in the Bundesliga.

The Leverkusen management is working to bake Quansah into the Wirtz deal, but according to The Athletic, Liverpool value Quansah at over £40 million, and any potential transfer for the defender will be handled separately from the Wirtz negotiations.
