The new job of former manager Erik ten Hag is important, but not as exposed. “What we saw from Erik ten Hag as manager of Manchester United and then Bayer Leverkusen was not particularly impressive, he showed little human knowledge and the results on the pitch were poor as a result. Possibly his temperament fits better in the Netherlands considering he actually had success in the clog-country with Ajax.
Erik ten Hag has found a new job after a turbulent time.
After his success at Ajax, Erik ten Hag got the job as Manchester United manager in the spring of 2022. The Dutchman was then fired from United in the autumn of 2024 after a series of poor results.

His time at Bayer Leverkusen was significantly shorter. Ten Hag only coached three games as head coach of the Bundesliga club before he was sacked at the beginning of September.
Now Erik ten Hag has found a new job, but not as a coach – but as technical director. The Dutchman will return to his home country, where he will start working for FC Twente on February 1. Ten Hag will take over the role of technical director in the summer. Until then, he will work within the football organization.
Ten Hag started his playing career at Twente and made 258 appearances for the club over three spells. After retiring as a player in 2002, he was given a coaching role in Twente’s academy and later became an assistant coach for the first team.

“It’s very nice, and special, to return to FC Twente, as I came to Het Diekman (the team’s old home ground) as a supporter at a young age. My football and coaching career started here,” says Erik ten Hag on Twente’s website.
The contract runs until the summer of 2028.
