Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has reacted to his teammate Jack Grealish’s loan move to Everton on social media.

On Tuesday, it was revealed that Jack Grealish is going on a season-long loan to “The Toffees”, who are preparing for a new era at Hill Dickinson Stadium. The England international will wear the number 18 shirt for Everton, as a tribute to former players Wayne Rooney and Paul Gascoigne.

£50 million purchase clause

The Athletic’s David Ornstein has reported that the Merseyside-based club will have a £50m option to buy at the end of the season, with Grealish himself having the final say on his future.

Grealish will be part of Everton’s summer signings along with striker Thierno Barry, midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, attacking midfielder Carlos Alcaraz, goalkeeper Mark Travers and left-back Adam Aznou.

Although he has been photographed at Everton’s Finch Farm training facility, Grealish is yet to be officially unveiled by his new club. Nevertheless, his former City teammate Haaland has virtually confirmed the transfer on social media.

Haaland’s tribute on Instagram

On Wednesday, the Norwegian striker dedicated an Instagram post to the 29-year-old, with six photos of their time together at the Etihad.

Haaland went so far as to respond to Everton fans in the comments section, where he asked a supporter to “take good care of him”.

Grealish hopes to become a key player alongside Iliman Ndiaye for the Blues, with the 2026 World Cup being a priority for the England winger.

How much will Jack Grealish cost Everton?

Despite it being only a loan, Grealish will cost Everton a significant sum this season.

According to Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers, the deal could cost Everton around £15 million.

In his column for Everton News on Monday, he wrote: “A £15 million loan deal is approaching, and while a permanent transfer is hard to envisage now, there is a desire from both sides to get a deal in place.”

Grealish’s alleged salary of £300,000 a week was thought to be a problem, but it is still unclear how much City will contribute in wages.

Everton’s Premier League season kicks off with an away game at Elland Road, where they face newly promoted Leeds United on August 18.
