The Club World Cup is a silly tournament, but goals are goals and we have to count… Manchester City’s star Erling Haaland reached a significant goal milestone in Thursday’s 5-2 win over Juventus.

Pep Guardiola’s side secured first place in Group G after they overran the Italian giants at Camping World Stadium in Orlando. Haaland started on the bench in the last group game, but came on at half-time when Manchester City led 2-1.

The Norwegian only needed seven minutes to find the net when he put in what became a finish from Matheus Nunes’ cross, albeit in a somewhat shaky way.

Phil Foden made it 4-1 and Savinho hammered in a fantastic five, before Dušan Vlahović reduced the deficit for Igor Tudor’s side.

Haaland reaches 300-goal mark
Vlahović’s late goal did not take anything away from Manchester City’s successful performance and a memorable day for their star striker.

Thanks to the goal in the 52nd minute, Haaland has now scored 300 goals in 371 appearances for club and country.

Haaland’s impressive stats include 123 goals in 145 games for Manchester City and 86 goals in 89 games for Borussia Dortmund.

The 24-year-old scored 20 goals during his time at Molde and 29 during his short stay at Red Bull Salzburg, while he has netted 42 goals in 43 caps for Norway.

Can Haaland win the Golden Boot in the Club World Cup?
Haaland’s goal against Juventus followed the goal in the 6-0 win over Al-Ain on matchday two.

As a result, the Norwegian international is now tied with a number of players who have scored two goals in the tournament so far.

More importantly, Haaland is only one goal away from the five joint top scorers Michael Olise, Kenan Yıldız, Wessam Abou Ali, Ángel Di María and Jamal Musiala.

If Manchester City go far in the tournament, Haaland will surely see his chances of adding the Golden Boot at the Club World Cup to his two Premier League titles as top scorer and his European Golden Boot.
