Conte, in addition to winning titles in Serie A, is known as the champion of bringing out the potential of underrated Manchester United players. We saw it with Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanches at Inter Milan, we have seen it with Scott McTominay last season at Napoli. In August, Rasmus Hojlund also landed at Napoli on loan, we expected Conte to get the Dane up to speed as well. Now it is reported that another underrated United player could end up with Conte.
Kobbie Mainoo has gone from being labelled as “Manchester United’s DNA” under Ten Hag, to greedy in wage negotiations and unwilling to fight for game time at Ruben Amorim. The 20-year-old pushed hard this summer to get away on loan, but Manchester United and Amorim put on the brakes. Mainoo watched England’s big win against Serbia on Tuesday and understands he will have to play every single week to be able to compete for a place at the 2026 World Cup. The opportunity does not seem to come at Amorim anytime soon, but a door is open in January.

Because according to ESPN, Mainoo could end up with Conte in Napoli on loan in the second part of the season. Assuming United have a replacement in place, of course.
If Conte shows he gets Rasmus Hojlund to hit goals in Serie A and with this increases his market value, we bet United will happily send Mainoo to the Italian fox for the same awakening.
