A senior reporter at ESPN has detailed what he believes are the “most likely” outcomes in what is developing into a wild coaching carousel involving Liverpool, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and others this summer.
Just as exciting as which star players move in the summer, will be which high-profile managers also land new jobs.

Arne Slot is under increasing pressure to qualify for the Champions League and at the moment it seems to be a task beyond the Dutchman’s abilities.
Pep Guardiola is not expected to sign a new contract at Manchester City and could leave early. Real Madrid will hire a permanent successor for Xabi Alonso, as Alvaro Arbeloa currently only serves as a temporary solution. Changes in these three clubs could be just the tip of the iceberg, and many will have ripple effects on other clubs as well.
Now, ESPN’s senior reporter, Mark Ogden, has shared his thoughts on the pieces that will be moved around Europe and the Premier League.
In an article explaining his “most likely outcome”, Ogden began by claiming that Michael Carrick will be hired by Manchester United as their permanent boss.
Carrick has won four out of four so far, and if he qualifies the team for the Champions League, he will have a very good chance of getting the job permanently.
Liverpool, on the other hand, are expected to fire Slot, which will trigger a battle with Bayern Munich to hire Xabi Alonso.
The obvious question at this point is: why do Bayern need Alonso when they have Vincent Kompany?
Ogden predicted that Kompany will be lured to Manchester City to replace outgoing Pep Guardiola, which will see Bayern battling with Liverpool for Alonso.
Real Madrid are expected to make a bold attempt to sign Jürgen Klopp, which is expected to be rejected by the German, who is still happy with his role as head of football at Red Bull.

Instead, Los Blancos will then try to bring Zinedine Zidane back to the Bernabeu for a third term. The difficulty there lies in the fact that Zidane already has a verbal agreement in place to succeed Didier Deschamps as manager of the French national team after the 2026 World Cup.
Ogden also predicted that Newcastle and England will change managers, with Eddie Howe taking over England after the World Cup, and Tuchel succeeding Howe at St. James’ Park.
As for Tottenham and the ill-fated Thomas Frank, Ogden expects Mauricio Pochettino to return when he finishes his assignment for the United States at the World Cup.

In other news, Liverpool supporters appear to be divided in a new claim that the club should sack Slot and hire Xabi Alonso as a replacement, with some supporters pointing to three other preferred options, and at the same time with a frightening statistic suggesting that the Dutchman could be on borrowed time.
Meanwhile, Konate’s stance on signing a new contract at Anfield has angered Liverpool, and the club has just launched a counter-move.
