It will take more than two wins in a row, even if it is against Arsenal and Manchester City to convince Manchester United legend and outspoken football commentator Roy Keane that Michael Carrick (whom he likes a lot) should become permanent manager.
It’s been a long time since Manchester United have delivered better football than what we’ve seen in the last week. Ruben Amorim a few weeks ago and just over a week ago they brought in Michael Carrick as manager for the rest of the season.

Roy Keane believes Manchester United need a “bigger and better” manager – despite Michael Carrick’s impressive wins against both Manchester City and Arsenal.
Roy Keane is clear that Michael Carrick’s winning streak as Manchester United manager does not change his opinion that the club should bring in a new boss at the end of the season.
Despite triumphs against both Manchester City and Arsenal, the former United captain believes the club needs another long-term solution.
He argues for this in a post on Sky Sports.
“Two great performances, but anyone can win two games,” Keane said after the 3-2 win against Arsenal at the Emirates.
Keane is crystal clear in his assessment of Carrick’s future.

“Even if United win every game for the rest of the season, I still wouldn’t give him the job. They need a bigger and better manager,” he states.
Keane believes the club’s size requires a manager who can win league titles – something he doesn’t think Carrick is capable of.
Neville agrees: “Should aim higher”
Gary Neville shares Keane’s opinion that Carrick is not the right one in the long term.
The former United full-back believes the club should aim for more experienced managers such as Thomas Tuchel or Carlo Ancelotti.
“Manchester United have acted emotionally several times in the last twelve years. I couldn’t be happier about the last two weeks,” Neville told Sky Sports.
He praised the team’s intensity and style of play under Carrick, but added:
“I think it’s right that Carrick keeps his job for the rest of the season and then hands over the baton to a Tuchel or an Ancelotti – someone in the absolute top world class.
Carrick: “We’re just getting started”
The manager himself is not carried away by the strong start.
“It’s only been ten days, so it was never going to be perfect,” Carrick told Sky Sports after the Arsenal win.
He emphasized that the team is still in a construction process.
“We couldn’t expect to come here and suddenly dominate the whole game. We’re just getting started, really. It’s a great starting point, but we have to add more layers, and we’ll try to do that in the coming weeks.
Carrick gave much of the credit to the players and support staff for their commitment.
“A bit like in the old days”
Keane nevertheless admitted that United have regained some of the old glow under Carrick.
“Considering where they are and where they’ve been, they had a bit of swagger and composure in their game,” he said.
Matheus Cunha scored the winner with a spectacular goal as United beat league leaders Arsenal 3-2 at the Emirates Stadium. Patrick Dorgu also put in a great long-range shot to make it 2-1 for the visitors.
“You see the United fans in the corner – it’s a bit like the old days,” Keane noted.
