Former Manchester United midfielder Fred could have a surprise return to the Premier League, after one club has shown interest.

Five years after joining from Shakhtar Donetsk for £47 million, Fred left United in the summer of 2023 to join Turkish club Fenerbahçe for a transfer fee of approximately £8.62 million, with a further £4.31 million in potential bonuses.

Since then, the Brazilian has made 80 appearances for his new club and has thrived under his former Manchester United manager José Mourinho, who took over from Ismail Kartal on the coaching bench last June.

However, it looks like Fred’s time at the Turkish giants could be coming to an end, as reports suggest that Mourinho has decided to put him on the transfer list to make room for a number of new signings.

And if he leaves Fenerbahçe this summer, a return to England could be on the cards, as a Premier League club considers making a bid.

According to a report by Turkish media outlet Sozcu Spor, Fenerbahçe are willing to let Fred leave for as little as £15 million this summer.

The low price is said to have piqued the interest of Everton, who are looking to strengthen their squad after an impressive season in which they finished 13th in the Premier League under manager David Moyes.

The report claims that the club are willing to support Moyes before their first game at the new Hill Dickinson Stadium, and that he sees Fred as a priority in the transfer window.

Currently, Fred’s contract with Fenerbahçe expires in 2027, which means Everton will have to start negotiations if they hope to secure a deal during the summer.

To fund a potential transfer, Everton appear to be willing to let star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin leave the club in the coming weeks, after they failed to agree a new contract.

It was initially thought that Everton were hoping to keep the 28-year-old, but now it has been reported that he is looking towards a move abroad, with Italy as his preferred destination.
