Finally, things have turned around for Liverpool. Five games without defeat in all competitions after uplifting victories over Inter Milan and Brighton & Hove Albion. Now seventh in the Premier League table before Christmas football and two points behind the Champions League places. However, there are no goals from the expected Salah, Florian Wirtz or Alexander Isak. Hugo Ekitike has been the big scoring hero for the Reds. The Frenchman has been on fire, with two goals against both Leeds and Brighton.

Former Liverpool player Dietmar Hamann believes Ekitike’s great form could send Isak into the transfer market as early as this summer.

“I think Liverpool will manage financially, even without the Champions League, because they wouldn’t have spent the money they did if they couldn’t afford it. Liverpool haven’t been big ‘consumers’ until last summer, and they tend to spend the money wisely,” Hamann begins, according to the Liverpool Echo.

However, this does not mean that Alexander Isak without a strong boost in performance will not end up on the sales list.

“If Liverpool don’t perform, they won’t be forced to sell. However, players like Alexander Isak or Florian Wirtz could have their future assessed if they don’t perform and the club isn’t in the Champions League. I’m not sure if Liverpool will sell anyone in January, but if things don’t pick up for Alexander Isak in March or April, they will probably have discussions about selling him in the summer. There will be many who want to buy Isak because he has shown what he can do at Newcastle. It also depends largely on Ekitike’s form, because if he continues to improve, it will be a struggle for Isak to get games unless he is forced out on the wing,” the former Liverpool player concludes.
