It’s a perfect time now that things aren’t going so well at Old Trafford, we would say, the value of Manchester United has been greatly reduced, but so is the opportunity to make money.

Sheikh Jassim has decided on a new takeover bid for Manchester United almost two years after he lost the game to Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Billion-dollar bid in 2023
In November 2022, the Glazer family, who bought a controlling stake in United in May 2005, announced that they were willing to sell their shares in the club. In response to the news, a Qatari group led by Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani made a massive bid of £4.5 billion to persuade the club. In the end, however, they lost to INEOS CEO Ratcliffe.

Ratcliffe’s unpopular board
After months of negotiations, the British businessman bought a minority stake in the club for approximately £1.25 billion. But he has since become unpopular with supporters due to controversial cost cuts and the club’s continued sporting decline.

Despite the fact that a stake in United may now be cheaper than ever, a new report reveals that Sheikh Jassim is no longer interested. According to the Daily Mail, there is little appetite among the Doha-based group to make a new bid, in part because of how the previous process with the Glazer family ended.

INEOS holds firm
In addition, it has been reported that INEOS is keen to keep its shares in United because of the significant work it has done since its arrival. This makes it almost certain that the ownership situation at Old Trafford will remain unchanged next season as well.

United’s value drops
After the club’s worst season in years, its share price has fallen by over 17% compared to last year. Despite Ruben Amorim taking over as manager from Erik ten Hag in November, United have plummeted to 16th place in the Premier League – their worst finish ever since the league was established in 1992.

Failed European Cup venture
In Europe, the Red Devils lost the opportunity to secure a Champions League place after losing in the Europa League final to English rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Although United’s value has dropped drastically, it doesn’t look like Sheikh Jassim will come to the rescue. With INEOS determined to stay in control, supporters will probably have to wait a long time for a change in ownership.

The only thing that can turn Sheikh Jassim around will be that the Glazer family has to make it easy, which they are not known for doing.
